Record Reader!

Like almost all our children, Gunjan is the first of anyone in her family to be literate. She read to Sue and Caroline during our visit to our partnership desert camp school in February; later we discovered that after only 15 hours of English tuition, Gunjan was reading and understanding the language. On the day of our visit, she read fluently and demonstrated her understanding by not only using the correct expression and intonation, but also, when asked, by translating without hesitation into Hindi. The amazing progress of this quiet, modest, calm little girl surely illustrates our children’s great potential which, without our partnership schools, would not be realised.
